Representations of Strong Spirit

Sagunja stands for Four Gentlemen, also called the Four Noble Ones, and in Chinese arts means to four plants: the orchid, the bamboo, the chrysanthemum, and the plum blossom.

Four plants also represent the four different seasons: the orchid for spring, the bamboo for summer, the chrysanthemum for autumn, and the plun blossom for winter. Thus, they were used to depict to reveal the four seasons in the year. Not only seasons, but also in Confucian perspective of view, the plants can also be the symbols of strong keynotes of Sunbi, and Yangban.
