Didatic Purpose of Confucianist Arts

 

Rulers of the Dynasty used a painting as the medium of arts to educate illiterate people the virtues and principles of Confucianism. Especially, due to the establishment of painting office of the government, Dohwawon (later changed name to Dohawseo), commoners and officers had more access to the paintings than other forms of arts.
